AFSOC Life Spiritual Warfare

Don’t eat CURSED food!!

This might seem like a “no-brainer”, but it needs to be said. Many modern Christians are failing to break curses that might be over their food and drink. What should we do?

Time and order

God is outside of time, but we are not. God is, by nature, very orderly. God’s first recorded act was to create order out of nothingness. (Genesis 1:1-3, et seq.) So, both time and order must factor into our examination of the situation.

Curses are an aspect of spiritual warfare. Curses can last a long time — “unto the third and fourth generation“, or even longer. Perhaps the actual food that is on a plate before a person was not cursed directly, but what if the food came from land that was cursed? Demons are assigned to territories (e.g.: the prince of Persia, mentioned in Daniel 10:20) Depending upon who owned the land when it was cursed, and what type of curse was put upon it, the curse could linger for generations — or even centuries — until it is broken.

Now, let us consider order. If the land is the first thing that must be considered in order, then what if the water was cursed? What if the seeds were cursed? What if the people picking the produce, or slaughtering the animals, put curses upon them? (What if they did so without considering the effects? For example, how many people unthinkingly “damn” their own job, their boss, his land, his tools, his business, etc.??) What if the trucker carrying the produce cursed his load? What if the grocery clerk cursed the groceries? (I have worked in two grocery stores. I once caught a woman going around the produce department, picking up fruits and vegetables and breathing upon them. She was very intentional about it. I got the manager to evict her from the store, and then I went back and prayed over the department. But, how many clerks do that??) What about the people in the restaurant kitchen? (I’ve worked in several restaurants, and I can assure you that a lot of curse words are thrown around in “the back of the house”.)

Invisible realities

So, we have taken a brief look at whether it is possible that curses could have been placed upon our food at any given time and at any given point in the order of bringing our food “from farm to fork”. Is it possible for us to know for sure whether specific food or drink is cursed? No. I do not know of any “litmus test” for curses — although some people do have a spiritual gift of knowing if there is “death in the pot”. (see 2nd Kings 4:40loc cit.) Nonetheless, as Christian believers, we do know that curses are an invisible reality of the spirit world — which genuinely effects the physical world.

Spiritual Kung-Fu

In the world of martial arts, especially Kung-Fu, there is a principle called “economy of motion”. In modern parlance, we sometimes say, “Work smarter, not harder.” In other words, instead of blathering a lot of “religions words and phrases” until our soup is cold, is there a quick and effective way to pray over our food and break curses? Yes. But, here is where “order” becomes very important.

What good does it do for us to “thank God for our food” if the food is cursed? We know that there was already a permanent curse put upon the land — by God. He cursed the ground because of Adam’s sin, and thus mankind must “eat by the sweat of your brow”. (Genesis 3:19) So, the premise of this column is not merely “guesswork” nor “pie in the sky”. Long-term curses can be put upon the land and its produce. Therefore, we must presume that all food and drink comes to us already cursed at some point prior in the order of its production.

Over time, I have developed a “short, simple, yet effective” prayer that I use before eating and drinking. And, over time, as the cursed nutrients have left my body, I have noticed a gradual improvement in my health. At age 66, I do not take any medicines. (This is not entirely “without cost”, though. The Enemy does not like people destroying his work. And so, I “take up the whole armor of God” every day. See Ephesians 6:10-20)

Using the same concept as in martial-arts (block, lock, counter), my prayer is based upon the strategy of “break, bless, thank”. Although it is short, it “covers all the bases”. I pray this (or a slight variation of it) over anything that goes into my body: food, water, coffee, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc., etc.

Please feel free to use and share this column. (Although the prayer should be effective by itself, it is a lot more effective if the person praying first understands the concepts behind it. Order is important.) As this weapon becomes a part of the total combat strategy of modern Christendom, expect to see an improvement in believers’ spiritual, physical, and mental health. “In Jesus Name, amen.”
