Because of the sad “climate” of the American Church in general, the topic of support must be stated as a separate doctrine — before we can even get to the “nuts & bolts” of how to actually support this church.
In today’s modern “church-speak”, the Apostles would be described as “bi-vocational” — holding two jobs. For example, Peter was a fisherman and Paul was a tentmaker. They continued to do those jobs while they did the work of establishing and growing the Early Church. Scripture does not say that they carried two separate bags of money. Rather, they were trustworthy men that did what was needed to advance God’s Kingdom with the resources that they earned.
Therefore, that is the pattern to which I will adhere. There is one key difference, however. In the days of the Apostles, and in most of the centuries since then, the IRS did not exist. Therefore, modern church policy is forced to be a bit more “complicated”.
I refuse to bow down to the IRS. No government entity or agency will tell me or this church what topics are “allowed” or “approved”. I refuse to apply for a “tax-exempt status” that could be revoked later, at the whim of some Christ-hating bureaucrat that can “weaponize” a team of IRS agents to harass me. (About 25 years ago, I was a frequent visitor at a small congregation that was completely shut down by the IRS for their outspoken [yet totally Biblical] statements about issues.)
As a result of the above experience, we do not have “members”. We have only “supporters” and/or “subscribers”. We do not maintain any membership “list”. (That way, no such list can be subpeonaed by the IRS, FBI, ABC, CBS, etc., and we would not be lying to say that we don’t have one.)
Therefore, I will regard this church as my “job” and my “business”. As such, any “income” that I might derive from contributions to this church will be reported to the IRS as part of my “business income”. That means that your contributions will not be “tax-deductible”. (If you are the type of “Christian” that gives to a church only to get a tax deduction, then I do not want your money anyway.) As the saying goes, “Sorry, not sorry….”
If you agree with the above statements, and if you agree with the concept that “the workman is due his wages” (see Matthew 10:10; Luke 10:7; 1st Corinthians 9:14; 1st Timothy 5:18), then please go to the Venmo app on your smart phone and send a payment to my business profile by scanning the QR code below. (For technological reasons beyond my control, this can be done only on a smart phone, and not on a computer.) Thank you.
PS: If that does not work for you, then please mail your contribution to:
