Jesus can be likened to a USAF Pararescueman. He was highly skilled and specially selected for the mission. He jumped in behind enemy lines. He knew that He was likely to die. He chose to do it anyway, "that others may live" -- forever.

AFSOC Life Love and Sex

Dating apps push abortion, etc.

I hope that the title of this post gets you irritated. Wait until your read the details.

First, a little background to set the foundation.

I became a pastor late in life. For the longest segment of my adult life, I was a military law enforcement supervisor. I also worked for a while as a deputy sheriff in a county jail. So, although I adhere to Biblical boundaries, I have not spent decades in an “academic bubble” nor in only “the soft glow of votive candles”.

Life in the “real world” can get kinda bumpy sometimes. So, a few years ago, I found myself “single again”. Having observed the changes in society over the years, I have not been too eager to get into the “dating scene”. But, on the other hand, “a man has needs”. So, with caution, I have tried some dating apps.

It turns out that my caution was well founded. There is a parent company (Match Group) that owns some of the most popular online dating sites/apps in America. Those sites include Match.com, OK Cupid, and Plenty O’ Fish. All of the sites have varying degrees of “personality questionnaires” that are supposed to help one find a mate. (Even though they are all owned by one parent company, OK Cupid seems to have the most extensive questions.)

Most of the questions are “legit” and designed to help people find others with whom they could be compatible. And, I applaud that concept. But, some of the questions are definitely “out of Left field” — hard Left, in some cases.

“Perhaps” the question red-lined above could be helpful regarding compatibility, but also it seems designed to “sway” weak-minded people into a Leftist groupthink. Here is another example.

The above is subtle, but it’s obvious that their “preferred” stance is pro-abortion. There was another page (which I did not get a screenshot of) that promoted the “climate change” agenda. What does that have to do with dating? The company said that they “support” those causes. That gave me pause. I already don’t like having to pay money to find my next wife. But, when the company openly declares that they spend part of their profit to support causes that I oppose, then I become reluctant to upgrade to “premium” services that might be used to promote abortion and other Leftist causes.

The company claims to have 200-million subscribers worldwide. So, the money from even a small fraction of those subscribers could translate into big political support for Leftist causes that I oppose. It tightens my jaw to think that such a “bait & switch” strategy is attached to one of the most basic urges of mankind. (Of course, “bait & switch” is a big part of Leftist strategy overall. Ask anyone that ever survived going to one of Stalin’s “strawberry fields”….)

There are only two sexes. The very use of the word “gender” to describe the sex assigned at birth is the ultimate bait & switch tactic. To claim that there are 22 “genders” and 13 “orientations” is ridiculous. The company seems to consider that an “accomplishment”. I consider it a “sign of the times” that we are living in the first chapter of the Book of Romans and that the days are growing more evil because Jesus is coming back soon.

One of the questions asked if I was looking for an “anchor partner”. That one took me aback. I took a guess about what that meant, and it turned out that I was right. Even though I have “seen a lot”, that one made my head spin a bit. (A more accurate term would be “chump”.)

So, I’m kinda stuck in the middle. These companies that I’m criticizing have the most sophisticated match-finding systems that I have seen. But, those systems favor people on the Left and those with low morals. Sadly, even though marriage in an important Christian institution, a lot of “Christian” dating sites are 25 years behind the tech curve and are mostly stuck in the “Protestant or Catholic” rut while more sophisticated questions are omitted or ignored. What’s a poor guy to do?? Maybe I should go to the laundromat….
